Australia in the 21st Century

Australia forges into the 21st Century as a strong, proud, passionate and multi-cultural Nation that has 'grown up' in the eyes of the rest of the World.

Mateship and camaraderie are terms that have endured through the past few Centuries and are proudly carried forward into the next as we continue to patriotically 'fly the flag' from shore to shore and build a partnership between our urban and rural dwellers that will continue to endure.

The Environment, Reconciliation and Energy (i.e. conservation and seeking new sources of Energy) are key issues as we enter the 21st Century as are all our Primary Industries and the recognition of the key role that they have played not only in the past, but more importantly the role they play in our present and will play in our future.

Primary Industries Move Into The 21st Century

The 20th Century saw the Australian Economy progress from domination by Primary Industries - wool, beef, agriculture, mining- to a much broader base including manufacturing, technology, education, service and tourism.

This change in emphasis has been accompanied by a movement of people and resources from rural to coastal areas and a grossly mistaken perception that inland Australia is somehow less important.

The fact is that Australia's heartland remains the core component to the nation's future, and the purpose of the Year of the Outback at the birth of the 21st Century is to unite all Australians in appreciating their Country's extraordinary history and achievement and recognise its infinite potential.
